VIP Program Readiness Checklist

Before you enroll, let’s make sure you are ready. Each VIP program has different age, document, attendance, and participation requirements. Review your program checklist before submitting your enrollment form.

Universal Readiness Checklist for All Students

Before enrollment, every student should confirm:

  • I know which program I am enrolling in.
  • I understand the class schedule and attendance expectations.
  • I have reliable transportation to class, lab, clinical, or driving sessions if required.
  • I have a working phone number and email address.
  • I understand tuition, payment plan, agency sponsorship, or private-pay expectations.
  • I know what documents I need before the first day.
  • I know who to contact if I need help before class starts.

Medical Program Readiness Checklist

CNA

Students should have:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Original Social Security card (NOT a photocopy).
  • State-issued ID, driver’s license, or U.S. passport.
  • Reliable transportation to class and clinical.
  • Ability to attend the full class schedule.
  • Required uniform/scrubs if applicable.

“I understand that missing required class, lab, or clinical time may affect my ability to complete the program.”


Medication Aide

Students should have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State-issued ID.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to complete the full class/lab/clinical schedule.
  • Any required background check or additional documentation requested by the program or certifying/licensing body.

“I understand that Medication Aide may have additional certification or state requirements beyond enrollment.”


Phlebotomy

Students should have:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • State-issued ID.
  • Reliable transportation to class/lab.
  • Volunteers arranged and ready for the required 40 sticks.
  • Understanding that the student is responsible for having volunteers available as required.

Medical Assistant

Recommended student readiness items:

  • State-issued ID.
  • High school diploma or GED, or currently scheduled to earn a high school diploma/GED within the allowed timeframe if pursuing national certification.
  • Reliable transportation to class/lab.
  • Ability to attend the full program schedule.
  • Basic computer, reading, and communication skills.
  • CPR/BLS readiness if required by the program, externship site, employer, or certification pathway.
  • Understanding that externship, clinical practice, or certification requirements may vary by employer or certifying organization.

Patient Care Technician/Assistant

Recommended student readiness items:

  • State-issued ID.
  • High school diploma or GED, or currently scheduled to earn a high school diploma/GED within the allowed timeframe if pursuing national certification.
  • Reliable transportation to class/lab/clinical if required.
  • Ability to attend the full program schedule.
  • Comfort with hands-on patient care skills.
  • CPR/BLS readiness if required by the program, employer, or certification pathway.
  • Any required background check, health screening, immunization, or clinical-site documentation if applicable.

“I understand that Patient Care Technician/Assistant training may include hands-on skills and may have additional clinical, employer, or certification requirements.”


EKG

Recommended student readiness items:

  • State-issued ID.
  • High school diploma or GED, or currently scheduled to earn a high school diploma/GED within the allowed timeframe if pursuing national certification.
  • Reliable transportation to class/lab.
  • Ability to attend the full program schedule.
  • Willingness to practice EKG placement and patient preparation skills.
  • Understanding that some certification pathways may require successful completion of live EKGs.

Home Health Aide

Recommended student readiness items:

  • State-issued ID.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and follow care instructions.
  • Reliable transportation to class and/or assigned care settings if applicable.
  • Ability to attend the full training schedule.
  • Comfort assisting clients with basic care and daily living support.
  • Any required background check, health screening, CPR/BLS, or agency/employer documentation if applicable.

“I understand that Home Health Aide work may require hands-on care, communication skills, background checks, and employer or agency-specific requirements.”


CPR

Students should have:

  • State-issued ID if required for certification records.
  • Ability to attend the full CPR class.
  • Ability to participate in hands-on skills practice.
  • Comfortable clothing for floor-based CPR practice.

Non-Medical Program Readiness Checklist

Driver’s Education

Students should have:

  • Student name, date of birth, phone number, and email.
  • Parent/guardian contact information if student is a minor.
  • Temporary permit or permit plan, if required before behind-the-wheel training.
  • Ability to complete required classroom/online and behind-the-wheel training hours.
  • Reliable availability for scheduled driving sessions.

Natural Hair, Braiding, and Wigs — Coming Soon

Students should have:

  • State-issued ID if required by the program.

  • Understanding that this is a certificate program only.
